Questions about our masks
Share
Hello birders,
In this post about masks, we would like to clarify some doubts that we have received, so that this information is useful to you when choosing your mask.
What type of masks are those from Pitas, Pitas Pajaritas?
First of all, tell you that our masks are not PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) or a health device . They also do not contain an FFP2 filter or compartment to include it. Our masks are called reusable hygienic masks , since you can use them more than once and not throw them away after use.
Consult more information about reusable hygienic masks in the UNE specifications
What characteristics do they have?
Pitas, Pitas masks have 2 types of fabrics. The first, which is used in the layer in contact with the outside, is a cotton, polyester or satin fabric with fun and original motifs and designs.
The second is a tissue that goes in the inner layer, the one that is in contact with your mouth, nose and cheekbones. Therefore, the characteristics of this layer meet all these conditions:
- 100% organic cotton treated with water-repellent and antibacterial properties ( certificate number CE - 11385)
- Resistance to liquid penetration complying with EN - 13795 regulations
- Complies with everything specified in the UNE - 0065 standard
- It can be washed at 60 degrees with a minimum durability of 40 washes
- Elastic tape with AITEX certificate 2005N0744
Tests carried out
- Filtration efficiency with aerosols > 93%
- Particle filtration efficiency > 92%
- Bacterial filtration efficiency BFE 91%
Tests carried out according to UNE standard - EN14683:2019 + AC2019
How should I wash them?
We recommend that instead of washing them, you boil them . For at least 5 minutes in this way you can sterilize them and they will not be damaged as much as if you washed them in a washing machine.
You can also wash them in the washing machine with programs above 40 degrees and 60 as a recommendation. When you wash them, remember to use a washing machine only for masks and not mix them with other clothes.
Lastly, you can wash them by hand. Use gloves, very hot water and soap.
Keep in mind that depending on the method you choose, both the exterior and interior fabric may be affected, losing their efficiency or colors.
How long do they last?
Our masks last at least 40 washes at 60 degrees without losing their efficiency and water-repellent property.
Are they comfortable?
Unlike other masks we have used, where the iron for adjusting the nose or the rubber bands are so hard and tight that they leave a mark or hurt us. Our pattern is a straight pattern without rounding in the nose area .
With the straight pattern and the folds that we incorporated, when we put it over our mouth we achieve that it unfolds its entire width, and protects you without getting into your eyes.
As for the rubber bands, one of the things that we were very clear about was that they had to be comfortable, thin and soft, thus preventing your ears from hurting when wearing them or worse, making you look like dumbo (and we love dumbo).
Read our customers' opinions in the description of each mask... if they have one thing in common, it's that they all talk about their comfort!
About the price
As you know if you already know us, or if we don't tell you here, our manufacturing and production is 100% made in Spain.
This means that in terms of price, we will never be able to compete with other countries that produce cheaper such as China, India or Bangladesh.
We are committed to local commerce, since now more than ever, we believe that we must support its economic recovery. For this reason, both our bow ties and our masks are manufactured and made in Spain.
In addition, we wanted the materials with which we make our masks to be the best we have found. This means that we have put quality above margin when buying cheaper fabrics without as many features.
And finally we are not a big company. In fact we are tiny. And this has its good things and its bad things. One of the bad things is that we do not have the ability to reduce costs by making online productions or negotiating volume discounts.
